Clever Emotional Appeals
I know I have already written a blog about emotional appeals but I feel as though I need to write another one. Emotion appeals have been discused quite frequently through out this course. In class we were given a list of company slogas and we then had to figure out how these slogans related to people and what types of people and what made them so appealing to the public. Here are a couple of the slogans we were given... "Just do it" -Nike and "have it your way" -Burger King. These may seem like simple short sentences but there is so much more to it then meets the eye. When we think of the brand name nike the first thing that comes to mind is sports equipment and athletic clothing, so what better way to appeal to an athlete better then " Just do it." These words of inspiration motivates athletes to push themselves further. To " just do it " means to set a goal for yourself and acomplish it with no excuses, to put everything out of your mind and focus souly on what you want. Its amazing how so many emotions can be evoked by three simple words, but thats the power of an emotional appeal! Another example would be "have it your way" by Burger King. The average person probably see's this advertisement one hundred times a day not realizing that it is infact an emotional appeal. What better way to attract costumers then telling them that they are in controle, " have it your way" implies that a constumer will get exactly what they ask for, this also promotes good customer service. When a customer knows they are considered top priority this gives them a great sense of joy and an overal good vive about the restaurant. If a restaurants can acheive a possitive emotional appeal they are most likely to have a succesful business. having a clever emotional appeal can make all the difference in the world to companies and advertising buisiness, having a good amotional appeals is like having money in the bank!
